Q: This is completely unrelated but I know you're super nice about listening to people. I'm dating a girl and we're 8 hours apart due to school. She just came down to visit me in the middle of both our terms. Everything clicked into place again and we were able to pick up where we had left off before school started. But now that she's gone, I'm sad and I miss her. I love how we are together and I can't stand when we're apart. I don't know how to cheer myself up. I just want someone to listen.

Of course I’ll listen and I hope you don’t mind me answering this publicly but I think there’s something for a lot of people to gain from what I’m going to tell you.

Don’t let her or anyone else become the sole and definitive source of happiness and contentment in your life. Avoid this at all cost cause you will simply becoming dependent on that person cause at time goes by, you will make a direct correlation between them and your state of mind. I’m not saying that her being around you shouldn’t cheer you up or be able to encourage you even, I’m saying you should find the means to achieve that very feeling and sensation on your own. Doing that will actually allow you to enjoy her company even more, so find a way to get yourself to a good place on your own free of her influence and best of luck to the both of you.
